robot progress

I want to know, if there is method or function to evaluate and control the progress in meters of robot, because i am using odometer motor for it, but is an open loop for a good algoritm movement control.

you can use a gps device attached to your robot base and get the xyz values .
You can also use the geom ::getmatrixabsolute of one box or another geom of your robot.
