Gripper

Postby arismendi » Wed Mar 03, 2010 6:30 pm

Hi,

I'm modeling a very simplistic robotic gripper. In the simulation I have a door which I intend to open with my robot, but when I try to grab the door knob it seems as if a magnetic force repelled my gripper. In fact I can't put the 2 pieces (like boxes) of my gripper around the sphere that simulates the door knob. What could be happening?

Best regards :D

Hi,

Well, it is difficult to answer :)

Can you send a video to support at anykode dot com, or send directly your project ... (phx files, world, program etc ...) in order to let us watch the entire procedure you are using.

Thank you

Hi,

Well, in fact the cylinder named 'eslabon6' have a size, and its rendering representation have another size due to the 'Scale Matrix' values (rendering properties panel). Thats mean that the visible cylinder is less large than the physics geometry (see screenshot)

For correcting the problem, set the scale matrix to 1,1,1 (no scaling): your cylinder will become larger than before !

You just have to change the cylinder's radius and lenght in order to have the good sizes.

That was it!!

All good now!! :D So amazing to see the robot opening the door :D

I should have changed the size of the cylinder by using Phx-> Scale and didn't realize that I was changing the scale matrix. I thought that what i was looking at, was what I was getting; now I realized that not.

Thank you very much again ;)
